Olbia airport OLB

The international airport of Olbia-Costa Smeralda was opened in 1974 to replace the former "Venafiorita". Thanks to a strong consolidated flow of tourists, it has become the main airport of Sardinia and the 14th airport in Italy for number of passengers.

It is currently managed by GEASAR SpA, a management company born in 1985 and became operative in March 1989. The new terminal was inaugurated on June 6, 2004. The extension and restoration works on the old building started in 2000 basing on architect Willem Brouwer design and Geogramma technical study. The airport of Olbia has been expanded to reach an area of 42,000 square meters, about three times bigger than that of the old structure. It is equipped with 40 check-in counters, 15 gates, 5 air bridges, a large shopping centre with 2,200 square meters of shops and services designed to accommodate 4.5 million passengers a year.

The result is an elegant and modern architectural complex with a particular attention devoted to the study of a more harmonious integration between its structure and the Sardinian landscape, to provide an opportunity to passengers and visitors to spend their waiting time in the best way possible and with the maximum comfort.
